In museums sexism & racism contuse to cause women leaders (and women of colour especially) to find that when a crisis engulfs their institutions they are shown the door a lot quicker than their white male colleagues.
as the FT puts it:
'some [women] were fired; some resigned; others left after clashes over governance or performance. But a common thread runs through them. Women leaders appointed to modernise institutions appear to receive less protection when pressure mounts'!
