I could do with a little help for three of the animals in our family, after travel permit issues in the US left them stranded 5,600km away.
What:
My Cuban-American partner has managed to emigrate from the US, but had to leave their animal companions (a psychiatric service dog and two cats) behind, in part because the USDA failed to issue appropriate travel permits during the shutdown last year, despite our vet's best efforts.
We've been taking every gig going to make up the unexpected extra cost, but it's been almost two months now, and although they're well cared for, the passing days weigh heavily.
All the animals started out as rescues. has been their forever family for 10 years and it's been painful to see how much they miss each other.

Extra background:
You might remember my post back in 2024 where we successfully raised funds to help my US friend and artistic collaborator get a passport quickly after their transition, in the hope of keeping ahead of legislative discrimination and looking into opportunities overseas.
Well, one thing led to another, we continued working on creative projects together, started writing a manifesto, and to cut a long story short: reader, I married them.
I know we're better off than many people who seek help, and if the situation didn't involve animals who need their forever human back, I'd be sitting back and saving.
Please don't give anything you can't afford, and please prioritise people in urgent material need first.
