Reading reddit discussions of Anora is wild because people's reactions to that movie say everything you need to know about what they think of women. So many viewers of that movie refuse to accept her toughness as something that is real and intrinsic to her character, and not a 'fron't she developed to cover shame and denial about her status as a sex worker. One of the most fascinating things about her character is how she doesn't view herself and her work with shame.

My avatar is the character Gizmo from the movie Gremlins. Gizmo is a small white and brown furry creature with large eyes and big pointed ears.
My background is a picture of a forest at the height of fall colors. The predominate color is gold with hints of orange and light green leaves.
It is true that she has difficulty seeing sex as anything other than a transaction and she doesn't know what to do when she encounters a man who doesn't want that but sees her for what she is -- brave and tough-as-nails -- and admires her for it. And more importantly, he doesn't think less of her because she is a sex worker.
