I rode over the top of Camino Alto southbound this evening (many San Francisco Bay Area cyclists will know this standard Marin route) toward the end of a 204km/127.4mi randonneuring permanent and saw northbound uphill traffic stopped many cars deep. Closer, I saw why: A flock of turkeys was browsing by the road, the hens on the shoulder and in the adjacent scrub, three big toms with tails spread blocking part of the northbound lane to protect them.
We bow to our avian masters.
