and that is why you should use RAID. i'm using RAID1 in linux (mdadm array).
i got to work this morning and one of my SSDs no longer registered on lspci. only 20TB written to it so probably a power surge knocked out and shorted one of the capacitors. will fix it later and stick it in a NAS or something
i stuck a new 2nd ssd in, and now the array is re-building. this screenshot shows why i'm not needing to reinstall linux right now. array re-syncing
i also do regular data backups, so i'm safe.
