So the first computers, those that were made out of discrete elements like tubes or transistors and took up a floor, were called just "computers".
The more dense ones that used some ICs but had the CPU comprised out of multiple of them, and fit under or next to a desk, were "minicomputers".
The ones that fit the entire CPU onto a single IC were originally called "microcomputers".
Should there be a new word for the next stage of integration, the system-on-chip?
