The US State Department has reduced the cost of renouncing citizenship to $450. It had been $2,350.
Meanwhile in Canada - Bill C-3 has been in effect since December. Sometimes called the ‘Lost Canadians Act’, if an individual can prove their parents or grandparents or great grandparents - really, there is no limitation how far back if you can show proof - were from Canada, you can gain citizenship.
