I just picked up a hint of a chronological sequence among my stone axes. The types that I've defined on the basis of discrete traits and correspondence analysis line up along a metric dimension. The shafthole is way back proportionally on some types, less so on others, and almost at the axe's midpoint on the populous oddball type.

Ancestral type has very rearward shafthole. Must check if I see the same sequence independently along other metric dimensions.
