ICE has been traumatizing children and youth across the country, and it’s only getting worse. Congress must step in. Arresting parents dropping their kids off at school and at bus stops. Violently arresting teenagers at work and while driving. Family separation. Detention of children. Teargassing of families and young children. These are just some of the horrors children have faced under Trump’s mass deportation machine. Research has shown what happens to children who get caught up in this machine: worsening mental health and overall well-being, negative educational and economic outcomes, and worries that their parents will be ripped from them again. Children should never have to experience this, but they are under this administration’s family separation policies. Congress must end this now.
