Il Tempo: Iran, Tajani: "Gli Usa impiegano le basi in Italia solo per motivi logistici"

"Abbiamo detto sin dall'inizio che rispettiamo gli accordi che abbiamo dagli Anni Cinquanta con gli Stati Uniti che autorizzano l'utilizzo delle basi americane solo per motivi logistici. Qualora ci fossereo altre richieste, ma fino ad oggi non ce ne sono state, il governo italiano andrà in Parlamento e valuterà insieme cosa fare. Potremmo decidere anche da soli ma abbiamo sempre voluto coinvolgere il Parlamento, chiedendo anche all'opposizione di collaborazione sulla grandi questioni di politica estera". Il ministro degli Esteri Antonio Tajani ha chiarito al 'Tg4 Diario della domenica' a proposito della riunione del Consiglio Esteri Ue in programma domani a Bruxelles, rispondendo alla leader del Pd Elly Schlein. "Tutto andrà fatto in sintonia con l'Ue, ribadirò la necessità di una posizione comune", ha assicurato il vicepremier, per poi passare alla vicenda della base colpita in Kuwait.
"Era una base che è stata attaccata già più volte. Infatti era stato ridotto anche il numero del personale presente lì. Era una base dell'Aeronatica militare", ha affermato Tajani. "Adesso quest'altro attacco ha colpito un grande drone italiano. Per fortuna nessun rischio e problema per i militari italiani che erano già al sicuro, come lo erano nei giorni scorsi". "Il Kuwait - ha spiegato il ministro- è un obiettivo militare dell'Iran, soprattutto per la presenza delle basi americane. Loro hanno detto che attaccano le basi Usa. Come, d'altronde, nel Kurdistan iracheno dove sono stati ridotti di molto i nostri militari, molti sono già in Turchia. Non è che ci facciamo intimorire. Non è che arriva un drone e allora molliamo le postazioni, ma dobbiamo mettere al sicuro il maggior numero di uomini, mantenendo la nostra presenza e mantenendo fede agli impegni che abbiamo preso a livello internazionale''.
