Since I stumbled over it just yesterday and posted a pic, and it was a real unit used in the early 1900's:

kilograms per square centimetre.

The actual gauge had it as, and I quote: "Kg. pr. qcm."

It equals ~0.98 bar pressure.

The gauge is on a water flow rate governor in a hydro power station, the gauge dated 1912.

I recall a Poul Anderson passage, possibly in "The Avatar":

"Tonight we are going to get boiled as an owl, and high as a kite."

"I refer, of course, to the International Standard Owl after it has consumed 1 liter of 100 proof ethanol, and the International Standard Kite, flown in a 1 gravity field at STP."

(Not an exact quote.)

(STP = Standard Temperature and Pressure, a temperature of 273.15 K (0 °C, 32 °F) and an absolute pressure of exactly 1 atm (101.325 kPa).)
