I think i need to take the time to analyse old game boxes. Front and back, as it would be interesting to see how the box portrays the game, especially in that text blurb on the back of the box.
I was going to go on a bit of a tirade against the awful western front cover of Legend of the Mystical Ninja, but the back of the box probably yields more what the hell.
I say awful front cover, that's my own thoughts on it, and it mostly comes down to how Goemon (Kid Ying, in game) is drawn here. Sure the Japanese depiction of him probably wouldn't gel with audiences. I was going to praise it for showing off a myriad of different enemies on it. But what the heck is up with the weird clown to the left of the old man?
There is the horse race in the background. Sure, there is the horse racing mini-game to earn money, but it is such a weird and inconsequential detail to put in there.
There are so many in-game elements shoved in here that I am equal part impressed and visually overwhelmed.
