We did some WILD EXPERIMENTATION today using CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY to print on plastic.

The results are so much better than expected. There's still a lot of work that we'll need to do to get this to a production standard, but we should be able to use these techniques to add high quality colored details to our toys in short order.

Look at how small those details go!

Look at how beautiful that color rendering is!

We can print on toys!

We printed the art on a gameboy cartridge. Not a sticker, straight on the cartridge.

How neat is that?

The print jobs on the Keshis were entirely proof of concept, just trying to figure out how it works and what the coverage is like.

Next week, I'll work on making a final version of the artwork, and get some good looking plastic prints on toys.

(I mean the gameboy print looks incredible but it'll look even better when I add raised texture details and glow in the dark accents.)

I know it sounds kind of cliche, but this work that Sundog and I are doing to figure out how to manufacture toys (among other things) is bigger than just making toys.

We're reclaiming manufacturing. We're bootstrapping the processes and equipment and techniques for making the things we want and need.

And, in the process we're making toys (and video games, and television, and music!)

We are, as best we can, seizing, rediscovering, and rebuilding the means of production.

Anyway, if you want to support the things we're doing, you can

We still exist under capitalism, and we need money to survive, so if you need toys, or books, or television, or music, or other forms of entertainment, consider getting them from us.
