American education on geography is woefully terrible on everywhere outside North America, but I think Singapore was one of the places done the worst disservice by my learning. Literally all I learned about an amazing, old cultural place was you’d get beaten for chewing gum.

Dubai wishes it were Singapore honestly, and Singapore has both the money and actual multicultural history.

I spent a few evenings doing queer bars last week and it was a super surprising scene. Really resilient, outspoken people working hard to build a presence.

Props to the lesbian bar off Club street that bloody well imports booze from gay landmarks globally like Stonewall brewing.

Obviously everywhere has problems and I’m in no way belittling that. I’m just pointing out that national propaganda especially through poor international education in America is a big problem and blind spot.

Singapore is amazing. I went for the first time at the end of Jan and I’ll definitely be back

oh yeah, we learnt that in French geography classes too!

Skinnylatte has posted things about being queer in Singapore...

I would love to visit Singapore, hopefully I'll get the opportunity one of these days
