To anyone thinking about joining BlueSky, especially artists: everything you post is sent to a third party for AI labeling.

BlueSky uses AI to label content for moderation, and to do that they use a company called thehive.ai. If you look through their privacy policy, you will see that they can use content sent to them to train models for all their services, which include generative AI for both text and images.

Darn... even in other socials artists are exposed to AI... the net sucks nowadays :c

yeah :(

Nothing stops people from scraping Mastodon as well, but at least it’s not a built-in function x3

this is what I was wondering - how many AI trainers have simply subscribed to a fediverse endpoint to vacuum up all the posts from everyone.

At the very least we aren't implicitly consenting to being scraped in some bullshit terms of service (that hopefully wouldn't hold up anyway). That's a pretty sad silver lining, I know...

Really? I was hoping to see artists go there once they open registrations publicly but know I'm not so sure.
With what's happening on Twitter, a lot of artists I followed there are already leaving the platform.

Yeah, same. And I hope this spreads up so artists know about it as well.

Hmm, where in the privacy policy is this? I can't immediately find it
