Good news for our trans friends:

The European Court of Justice on Thursday ruled that European Union nations must provide transgender citizens with identification documents reflecting their "lived gender" rather than their gender at birth.

To translate this for non-EU people, it's the equivalent of the US supreme court (the ECJ here) ruling that states (the EU Member States here) must respect people's gender choices.

Congratulations! Normally, my hope would be that this type of legislature would spread to the United States. With our current administration, I have no hope of that. That doesn't mean I'm bitter against anybody who is able to make use of this landmark decision! I wish you the best!

The cigar-chomping-yacht-crowd (yes, I mean you Jo) would just scream something about brexit meaning brexit, anyway.

... Amd then 4 years later they declare all those passports invalid like in the US?

Not good enough. Delete the category, gender does not belong on ID documents.

Just have check boxes for which sex related organs you have.

Check all that apply

  • [ ] Ovaries
  • [ ] Uterus
  • [ ] Testicles
  • [ ] Prostate
  • [ ] Penis
  • [ ] Vagina

Those informations do not belong on ID documents either
