Ever wondered how they came up with the value of the Bionic Man? I mean, $6 million is an oddly specific number. I guess back in 1973 that was an awful lot of money. I do wonder how much he would cost if he was made today, and if the new improved Steve Austin still goes "bwa-na-na-na-na" when he runs in slowmo.

The Six Million Dollar Man Intro

Six million dollars was a huge amount of money in that era.

Possibly Six Billion today would seem about the same magnitude? πŸ™‚πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

6m is 34m in todays dollars, if you had invested in gold it would be 250m #oscar goldman

I was thinking more about the perceived value rather than the inflation calculated value.

I'm not sure those inflation calculations are wholly accurate as a lot has changed from say 1976 and today and depends on what you are looking at.

So would Β£3000 today get you a really nice high performance PC? Yes! In 1976 or 1977 maybe an Apple II setup would cost about that?

Matching performance in 1976 would either be impossible or cost an enormous sum πŸ™‚πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

how much do you value miracles? you can't put a number figure on ai and where it is going, how much it is improving, and quantum also, it is not meant to victimize but empower (eventually) - 3d printing and cnc plasma cutting is almost enough for me, will take mini miracles . back in the before times yeah you had a fancy pc but getting help or information on how to really use it effectively was tougher #boffins

What we are discussing has nothing to do with your last reply. I'm not interested in discussing so called AI.

Please remain on topic.

why not - it is technology, just not as you envisioned. Fd: I am not made out of gold. eventually the users will take the power back and the wealth inequalities will sort themselves out, it is either that or totalitarianism, the tech and politics outweigh the monetary issues by and large #value discount ai enabled smb networks
